What are the Midgard Norns?

The Midgard Norns are a new genome for Creatures 1 which includes a lot of general improvements to the C1 genome. These improvements allow the Midgards to interact with their world better and appears to improve their general intelligence.

This genome package also comes with the Stimulating Albia Patch for the game, which replaces carrots and lemons with improved versions that count as roots and fruit respectively. This provides the Midgards with three different food types to distinguish between.

Due to the peculiarity of how norns choose an object to look at among a group of the same type, this allows for greater flexibility.

These improvements include:

• Partial backport of the C2 Nova Subterra brain architecture, for improved intelligence and perception
• New instincts for various objects such as roots, fruits, bigtoys and other common object types
• A new Wounded chemical, modelled after the chemical of the same name in Creatures 3
• Mortality from ageing and wounded. Norns are no longer effectively immortal
• The genome variations from the Life Kit Norns are also integrated into the Midgard genomes for those breeds
• A pair of Midgard Grendel genomes are available, one acts more like Midgard Norns and the other acts antisocially
• Various minor optimizations, including improved sleeping and resting and removal of the norn slapping "courtship instinct"
